The pregnancy time has ended, and your little baby is now in your hands to care for. A new stage begins, requiring all your focus because babies are born with naturally acquired skills that need to be developed constantly. In this article, you will learn what baby hour is, its importance and how to communicate with your baby in different ways.

What is baby hour and why is it important?

The baby hour is an hour you spend daily with your baby, doing joint activities to teach them a new skill.

This article offers you some games and tricks that you can share with your baby everyday. You will notice a big difference over time.

1- Chatting to the baby:

The first step to teach your baby speaking skills is to talk to them frequently. Talking to your baby with great concentration helps them to learn to listen and copy mother's facial expressions as she talks. This will help the baby later on in pronouncing some simple words.

2-Start a conversation:

To help your baby understand the idea of conversation and dialogue, look in their eyes, talk a little bit, then pause. When they start to make a voice, encourage them and listen to them carefully, then continue your speech for a while and pause. Repeat this process several times.

3- Recognizing their name:

One of a mother's most joyful moments is when she finds her baby becoming alert when their name is called, but it requires some exercise. Dedicate some time of the baby hour only for repeating their name several times while maintaining eye contact. Over time, they will realise the significance of their name and will pay attention to anyone uttering it.

4- Understanding facial expressions:

Babies can sense their mother's emotions through her facial expressions, speaking tone and volume. If she speaks to her baby in an angry tone with a loud voice, the baby can sense it and will start to cry. You can develop this skill by saying phrases like "I am very happy" with a wide smile on your face. Try it once again, but this time say "I am very sad" and put on a sad expression on your face.

5- Recognizing their face in pictures:

Babies can be taught to slowly learn to recognise their face; put a mirror in a visible spot in front of them. First, let them look in the mirror to see only themselves,  then join and have them to see both of you in the mirror. You can also put a picture of you and your baby in a visibly noticeable place for your baby in order to help them start gradually recognizing their own face.
